Assessment Brief:

Create a marketing plan for a tourism-related business of your choice.

For this assessment, you will produce individually, a formal written project of approximately 2000 words excluding references and appendices.

Assessment Guidance:

Choose a tourism-related business of your choice and create a marketing plan to attract both new and existing customers. The focus of the project is to review the existing products and services of the chosen business and develop a new marketing plan to attract both new and existing customers.

Your report should include the following:

  1. Cover page
  2. Table of content
  3. Introduction: Purpose of the report and an overview of the chosen business related to tourism.
  4. Demonstrate the importance of a Marketing plan and outline the Pros and Cons of a marketing plan. 5. Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning reflecting on the chosen business.
  5. Review the existing products and services of the business by conducting a SWOT analysis (table format) along with a short paragraph explaining the current gaps, and any other appropriate literature.
  6. Design and justify the Marketing Plan (table format) based on the findings.
  7. Conclusion
  8. References
  9. Appendices.

Note: Your report should include examples of marketing material and you should use images, tables and diagrams where appropriate.

Word Count: 2000 words (10% +/-).

Introduction:

  • Purpose of the report explained clearly.
  • Introduce your chosen Tourism organisation with a detailed overview of the business.

Main Body:

  • Within your report, you need to show your knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of marketing and its application to the service sector in its broadest context.
  • You must focus the Aims and Objectives of your chosen organisation.
  • Showcase an understanding of your organisations Target Market / Audience. Ensure you provide evidence to substantiate your claims.
  • Assess your chosen organisation’s existing products and services by applying the Marketing Mix.
  • Devise an Action Plan that aims to promote these existing services more effectively to increase customer engagement and sales.

Conclusion:

  • Provide an appropriate conclusion to your marketing plan that summarises your proposal and showcases justifications towards your chosen approach to your marketing plan. 10 Quality of the report: • Considered the issues / concepts from several perspectives and properly compared the arguments / viewpoints of different literature.
  • Make use of appropriate writing style.
  • Provide comments based on literature.

References:

  • Citations and reference list should be presented in correct Harvard referencing style.
  • Make use of a variety of relevant academic sources to inform your arguments.
  • Demonstrate a range of recommended reading and appropriate examples outside the reading list.

Overall Format & Presentation:

  • The report should have a neat aspect, following this recommended structure
  • The text should be formatted using at least size 12 font, in a readable style with 1.5 Line spacing applied.
  • Standard UK spelling and grammar, in a readable style should be followed
  • Appropriate use of appendices.
  • The text showcases good flow, and the arguments are developed to the appropriate level standards.
