Essay 1: The behaviour and attitudes of an Individual
Introduction
The overall success of an organisation is determined to a large extent by the behaviour of the people in the organisation (Sharma, 2009). This is because employees represent the image of an organisation and more often their conduct is used by the customers and the public to form opinions of the company. In addition, customers will not be willing to do business when the employee behaviour is not satisfactory. Employee behaviours and attitudes affect their individual productivity and thereby affect the overall performance of the organisation. As explained by Durai and Kindersley (2010) attitudes reflect the internal feelings of an individual towards their positions, colleagues, work and the organisation in general. On the other hand, behaviour is the outward responses and physical expressions on an individual’s attitude (Torington et al, 2008). The study of people’s behaviour in the workplace is commonly referred to as the organisational behaviour and is study which in involved in evaluating and analysing the impact of employees behaviour and attitudes within an organisation and how such behaviour influences the overall performance of the organisation (Mullins, 2011). Organisational behaviour enables the management to evaluate the factors that influence the people’s attitudes thereby offering a conducive environment that enables the employer to perform at their best.
This essay evaluates the behaviour and attitudes of people in Procter and Gamble. It identifies the most effective type of people in the company and looks at various reasons which make them effective. In addition, these essay looks at the problems people face while interacting with others in the organisations, their impact on the organizational performance as well as offering suggestions on improving people relations.
Type of people considered most effective
Procter and Gamble manufactures consumer goods with the purpose of touching and improving consumers lives with high quality products. Innovation is at the heart of all their operations as they aim to produce different products which serve the needs of the people (Brown and Turner, 2008). Procter and Gamble considers its employee as their greatest asset in achieving their goals and coming up with innovative solutions to meet the needs of the people and fulfil their mission in improving the lives of the people. Senge (2010) describes the most effective people in an organisation as the people with the ability to hold their vision and still remain committed to the current reality. Although most of their employees put great effort in enhancing the overall success of the organisation, the most effective type of people in the organisation are those who are open, conscientious, self monitoring and agreeable…………………
