MGNT380: Sport Management

Assessment Three

Write a report to your tutor in which you demonstrate your study, understanding, and use of MGNT380 course ideas and exercises (do not include weeks 3, 4 and 5) to critically analyse the ability of a sport organisation to achieve its strategy.

1. Choose a sport organisation to focus on and explain why you chose this sport organisation. Drawing on material delivered through the MGNT380 Moodle subject website to structure your description, provide a short explanation of the organisation, its strategy, and governance structures. (25%)
2. Drawing on at least three ideas from MGNT380, describe and analyse the sport organisation’s ability to achieve its strategy. (25%)
3. Drawing on these same ideas from MGNT380, critically evaluate the chosen sport organisation’s ability to achieve its strategy. (25%)
4. Draw conclusions for the governance and management of sport organisations based on your analysis of your chosen sport organisation’s ability to achieve its strategy. (25%)

Notes

1. In this context, strategy refers to the purpose of the organisation. It may be identified through a mission statement on the sport organisation’s website, or in a formal document (e.g., a strategic plan).
2. The primary purpose of this assessment is for you to demonstrate that you have studied, understood, and can apply the ideas of MGNT380 (do not include weeks 3, 4 and 5). The task requires you to provide references that are both descriptive (i.e., from the sport organisation’s website) and academic (i.e., journal articles studied in class or from appropriate sources).
3. The audience for your report is your tutor. Do not adopt a pseudo-business style of report.
4. You are strongly advised to allocate your words to the allocation of marks.
5. Maximum length: 3000 words plus references.
6. This assessment contributes to 50% of your total mark for the subject.
7. Complete this assignment and submit it before 5.00pm on Monday 6th November 2023.
8. You must submit one version of this assessment. The assessment should be submitted to Turnitin

which can be accessed through the subject’s Moodle site. Please give the assessment a file name that

begins ‘MGNT380 S2 2023 Assessment Three’ followed by your name.
