Assignment task

Write a reflective essay of 1000 words to:

  1. Explain how you have developed as a learner during this module with reference to two of the topics and related class activities listed below.
  2. Discuss how your engagement with these topics and related activities have contributed to your development.
  3. Explain how the new skills you have acquired from your engagement with your selected topics will help to prepare you for future challenges and for the expectations of a university course.

Topics to be covered in class include:

  • Application of different Learning style theories and models: Kolb (1984), Honey & Mumford (1986), VARK (1987), Gibbs (1988), Schon (2017)
  • Academic writing skills
  • Oral presentation skills
  • Academic reading skills
  • Academic listening skills
  • Reflection and Personal SWOT Analysis
  • Reflective writing using Driscol’s Model (2007)
  • Digital skills
  • The world of work in 2024 and beyond
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving

Please note the following requirements:

  • The essay must be reflective, where you think deeply about your personal and professional development using formal language and presenting arguments supported by evidence.
  • You should refer to definitions, theories and perspectives on reflection and reflective practice
  • The language used must be descriptive and written in the first-person.

Academic sources need to be fully referenced using Harvard referencing style and relevant to the arguments presented. They should also explain why the topics mentioned are relevant to your learning and acquired skills.
