Paper – Criminal Justice Job Analysis

Date Due: 27 October 2023, 2pm

Length: 1500 words (+/- 10%)

The purpose of this work-integrated learning assessment is to prompt students to reflect on the sorts of jobs performed in the criminal justice sector and the skills and considerations they require. Students are also able to demonstrate their abilities in critical thinking, research, and writing by applying concepts from the course to a particular criminal justice job and the issues surrounding it.

The paper requires you to review the research literature, to identify appropriate concepts, and to apply the findings of the research literature to your arguments.

Task

Find a specific job within the criminal justice system within Australia that interests you.

Write a descriptive analysis of this job, referring to the following elements:

– the roles and responsibilities associated with the job,

– the requirements for the role (for example, requirements for recruitment or core job skills and criteria), and,

– how you think the learnings from this course/your degree would be relevant to the role.

 

Drawing on the academic literature, you should also present an argument about:

– the barriers and/or challenges you can see that may be faced within the role,

– how the job affects and is affected by other parts of the criminal justice system, and

– a consideration of potential problems that may arise in terms of how the role affects outcomes for people going through the system.

To complete this task, you should consult online job advertisements and any recruitment or human resources websites for details.
