Structure of the assessment:
The EMA consists of three parts.
Part 1 is worth 30 marks.
Part 2 is worth 50 marks
Part 3 is worth 20 marks.
You must answer all three parts of this assignment.
Assessment weighting: The EMA accounts for 50% of your total assessment for the module.
Word limit: The total word limit for the EMA is 3000 words.
Part 1 Social media commentary (30 marks)
As a university student taking a year in industry, you are working as a marketing assistant at Middleham Lakeside Lodges Retreat and Activity Park. Jane has seen several negative comments in response to Middleham Lakeside Lodges Retreat and Activity Park’s social media posts in which it shared some of its achievements in reducing waste and energy consumption.
Jane would like you to review the social media comments and produce a report that helps her to decide what actions (if any) need to be taken. Jane has asked that the report clearly address the following:
- What are the main sustainability issues that the social media comments raise and what is the significance of these for Middleham Lakeside Lodges Retreat and Activity Park?

Part 2 Critical evaluation of an integrated marketing communications proposal (50 marks)
Jacob now wants you to evaluate the campaign proposal that has been submitted by the marketing communications agency who are pitching for the Middleham Lakeside Lodges Retreat and Activity Park account. He would like you to produce a report that critically reviews the campaign and to provide recommendations on how the campaign could be improved to better achieve the objectives set. You will find the proposed campaign in the briefing document.
This part of the report should be no more than 1750 words. (50 marks)
Part 3 Skills and competencies reflection (20 marks)
Prepare a short piece of reflective writing outlining which behavioural competencies outlined in the CIM Professional Marketing Competencies you have developed while working through this module. Consider which of these competencies the module has enhanced for you the most and with what impact on either your EMA or your work/life more generally.
