Assessment Description
In this individual assignment, you will develop a report which will be comprised as a word document.
The assignment will focus on a luxury chocolate company Hotel Chocolate (https://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk). The company currently operates in the UK, USA and Japan.
For the purpose of your assignment you firstly need to select one country into which the company will expand. The three countries you can choose between are:- Vietnam; Italy or India.
The company plans to acquire the following businesses in each geographic market, you must choose one of the following and focus your entire assignment on it:
- Vietnam – Marou (https://www.marouchocolate.com/)
- Italy – Venchi (https://uk.venchi.com/)
- India – Manam (https://manamchocolate.com/)
Hotel Chocolat wishes to convert the brand for each company into the Hotel Chocolat brand.
Once you have selected one of the geographic markets and associated company you are required to:-
- Recommend and justify the leadership style that the new Managing Director should demonstrate within the business (based in either Vietnam, Italy or India). This information will be used to help to recruit a new Managing Director for the business. You must justify, with the aid of academic content, why this leadership style is appropriate.
- Recommend and justify the culture that the organization should adopt. For this you should consider Information from the Hofstede model and apply the Schein model. You may also wish to consider Handy, or Deal and Kennedy, or alternative cultural models. In your justification for your cultural recommendations, you must consider how the organization will benefit.
- The organisation will need to change the brand and product range to reflect the chocolate products which can be found in the existing Hotel Chocolat stores in the UK, USA and Japan. In addition, the company may wish to create new products which are appropriate for the customer requirements in the new geographic market. You need to detail what type of innovation should take place in the new Hotel Chocolat organization (Vietnam, Italy or India) and which innovation models and theories should be used by the organization. Again, you will need to justify with the aid of academic content all of the recommendations that you have made. You may also wish to consider the organizational structure at this point.
- Finally, you should recommend how all of these changes should be managed within the organization. At this point you should consider the type of change and apply models such as Kotter, Lewin or equivalent. Remember to justify each of the recommendations that you make with the aid of academic content.
The Marketing Report must include (but is not limited to) the following elements:
Executive Summary: Produce a detailed overview on what the report discovered (not included in the word count).
Table of Contents: A content page, with appropriate headings and subheading (not included in the word count).
Introduction: An informative introduction, on what the report will include and background information relating to the chosen company. (400 words).
Leadership: Recommend and justify the leadership style that the new Managing Director (of the Vietnam, Italian or Indian company) should demonstrate. (500 words)
Culture: Recommend and justify the culture that the organisation should develop in the new market. (700 words) Innovation: Recommend and justify an approach to innovation within the new organisation. (800 words)
Change: Recommend and justify the type of change required and how this change should take place within the new organisation. (700 words)
Conclusion: Concluding remarks on what has been discovered from this detailed report. (400 words)

Out of scope– You are not required to conduct any analysis into the new geographic market.
Note – Academic content: At all stages in the report, it is important that content should be underpinned with the inclusion of relevant academic theory, concepts, and models where appropriate. This should be referenced throughout.
Note – Word count: Please note that the word count is taken from the start of the Introduction to the end of the Conclusion, 3,500 words (+/- 10%).
