Module Title Developing Leadership Capability for Professional Practice
Statement of task
This assessment invites you to address the following task: Using appropriate academic and professional sources critically evaluate the importance of self-awareness to enhance leadership capability in the 21st century. To what extent are you ready for your future leadership or management role and the challenges that lie ahead in your career of choice?
Word Limit: The total word limit for this assessment is 3500 words.
Weighting: This assessment is worth 100% of the total marks available for this module.
Submission Time and Date: Tuesday 14 January 2025 at 12.00 midday.
Submission of Assessment: Electronic Management of Assessment (EMA): This assessment should be submitted electronically, online via Turnitin by Tuesday 14 January 2025 at 12.00 midday.
Guidance for this assessment
- The assessment is in three parts (A, B and C) and takes the form of an academic essay, a self-analysis and the identification of areas for development based on that self-analysis.
- Part A (1500 words) is an academic essay in which you critically evaluate the importance of self-awareness to enhance leadership capability in the 21st century, using appropriate professional and academic sources to do so. 40% of overall mark
- In Part B (1500 words) provide a self-analysis identifying your strengths and weaknesses across the range of interpersonal and intrapersonal skills relevant to your target profession/industry/sector. 40% of overall mark
- In Part C (500 words) outline three areas for development you have identified based on your discussions in Parts A and B which will enable you to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you need to be in the future to ensure career success in your target profession/industry/sector. 10% of overall mark.
- You should present all your component parts in one document and your work should be presented to a standard commensurate with Level 7, using APA referencing throughout. You should submit your tool kit findings and associated reflections as an appendix. 10% of overall mark.
Assessment Guidance Session
Detailed assessment guidance will be given in the Week 7 Lecture. The lecture will provide advice on i) How to complete the different parts of the assessment to ensure that your work meets the assessment criteria
- ii) The expected processes of analysis, critical evaluation and reflection
iii) How to professionally present the assessment
- iv) How the assessment will be graded against the rubric
