L7 Management of Business Operations

Key Details and Requirements
Submission deadline: Tuesday 01 October 2024, no later than 16:30pm (UK local time)
Assessment details:Individual presentation with explanatory notes, 100% (equivalent to 2,500 words)
Referencing: Students are expected to use Harvard Referencing throughout their assignments where required. Please follow the Harvard Referencing Handbook for all your assignments at the ULBS.
Submission Method: Turnitin – Your work will be put through Turnitin. All submissions will be electronically checked for plagiarism and the use of AI software.
You have the option to upload your work ahead of the deadline, more than once. ULBS will be reviewing your last submission only. You can only upload one file. For example, if your work contains a word document and power point slides/Excel spreadsheet you will need to copy your slides/spreadsheet into the word document.
Note: Keep in mind that self-plagiarism (when you reuse your own specific wording and ideas from work that you have previously submitted without referencing yourself) is also a form of plagiarism and is not allowed.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
Select a global organisation of your choice and assume the role of the Head of Operations. As part of collaboration day you have been asked to prepare a presentation accompanied by explanatory notes, using academic referencing and citations as appropriate, in which you will
➢ Critically evaluate the effects of the growing influence of a global economy and rapid advancement of technology on operations management of your chosen organisation supported by specific examples. Analyse in which way operations and Information Systems (IS) have given your chosen organisation a competitive edge and influenced its strategic direction.
➢ Using your judgement assess how you can re-design business operations for your chosen organisation. Consider quality, systems, operations, business process and organisational behavioural perspectives.
➢ Based on your understanding of your chosen organisation you will conclude your presentation by offering valid recommendations supported by rationale as to how your chosen organisation can improve the operations enabling collaboration, knowledge management and focusing on individual competencies.
Slides should be worked as PowerPoint presentation slides with suggested minimum font size (can vary upwards on a slide /across slides) of 16. The explanatory notes should have a minimum font size of 12, Arial;
(Please submit one PDF file, in PowerPoint Notes Page layout. Go to File – Print – Settings – in Printer, choose Microsoft Print to PDF; then, in Print Layout, choose Notes Pages; then, click Print, to save the PDF file to a folder of your choice.
Note that students do not have to deliver their presentations verbally.
You should refer to academic concepts, theories, and practices in a critical and informed way, with reference to key texts and academic articles, as well as by referring to examples from your selected organisation.
All sources should be correctly acknowledged, and a list of references provided (this list of references is excluded from the word count).
