Learning outcomes and assessment criteria specific to this assignment:

  1. Identify a range of leadership skills and areas for future individual / personal development, underpinned by contemporary theory, models or concepts.
  2. Apply a systematic, planned and justified approach to future leadership and development supported by contemporary theory, models and concepts to aid organisational effectiveness.
  3. Critically evaluate and apply different aspects of leadership and management practice and theory and assess how they can contribute to organisational effectiveness within a contemporary global context.
  4. Supported by relevant theory, models and concepts critically examine and propose how contemporary and future Global Leadership / Management challenges will impact on individual / personal leadership approaches.

 

Overview

This module will provide you with an opportunity to engage and consider contemporary issues in leadership from both UK and international perspectives and how leaders address these within organisations. The module will enable you to develop a critical insight and outlook to explore relevant solutions for organisational effectiveness and success. Focusing on challenges faced by leaders and how to address these challenges is a key component of this module. Overall, the module will enable you to develop your leadership potential, best practice and through peer assessment gain an insight into a range of business issues that impact on employees.

 Resit Assessment (3,000 words in total)

This is a new piece of work and is not the same as the first attempt. For this resit, you are to write an essay answering the 4 following questions:

  1. What LEADERSHIP skills are needed in organisations currently? Using contemporary literature, identify and justify 3 key LEADERSHIP skills that you need to develop as a potential leader for use in an organisation. (300 words).
  2. By way of explicit examples, suggest how you can gain the 3 LEADERSHIP skills identified above. As part of this response, consider specific resources needed, e.g., training courses, projects, coaching etc. (700 words).
  3. Critically evaluate and demonstrate how the 3 LEADERSHIP skills identified are and can be of benefit to organisations. (1,000 words).
  4. Consider how LEADERSHIP skills may change in the future given global challenges that may arise and what new skills will be needed. (1,000 words).

This Resit attempt is essentially an essay and again the emphasis is on the quality of your work and the extent to which you engage with contemporary literature as you consider your own development as a leader.

Word limits

The word limit identified above is for Section 1 and Section 2. A +10% margin of tolerance will be applied, beyond which nothing further will be marked.
